About the event

A not-for-profit organisation developed to promote STEM learning, F1 in Schools enables participants to design, make, and race miniature F1 cars. Endorsed by Formula 1, the competition teaches a range of skills and subjects, including engineering, design, aerodynamics, and project management, and has gained immense popularity since its foundation in 2000. Now active in 51 countries, over 17,000 educational institutions take part in F1 in Schools each year - competing regionally and nationally, with the best teams winning a place at the annual Aramco F1 in Schools World Finals. A proven route to automotive careers, many former F1 in Schools participants have progressed to roles within F1 and the motorsport arena, alongside wider STEM-related industries, including, NASA, Airbus, BAE Systems, and SpaceX.

How we will be involved with National Manufacturing Day:

Providing teachers and students with the opportunity to see the world's most exciting STEM competition in action, F1 in Schools will be hosting an interactive workshop, led by UK Project Manager Tom Milner. Covering everything you need to know about the challenge, Tom will showcase how F1 in Schools works, the skills it teaches, the benefits it brings, and the reasons why it sets so many students on the fast track to success. Plus, with a full-scale 20-metre racetrack on display, you can see if you have what it takes to be an F1 driver by testing your reaction speed - remember to be first off the trigger when the lights go out if you want your car to beat your opponents!
